What is the OET exam?
The Occupational English Test, also known as OET, is an international English language teste that assesses the language skills of healthcare professionals who wish to register and work in English-speaking countries. This exam focuses on the assessment of 4 fundamental language skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking – with a special emphasis on communication in professional health contexts.
The Listening and Reading components are the same for all health professionals, while the Writing and Speaking components are specific to each profession. The OET exam takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes and is divided into 42 Listening questions, 42 Reading questions, 2 Speaking role-plays, where you interact with an interlocutor, and a Writing task.
For more information about the exam, see this link.

When can I start?
The course takes place on the dates defined in the schedule.
Does this course assign any level of language proficiency?
The OET does not assign a general language proficiency level like CEFR levels (A1, B2, etc.). Instead, it assesses specific skills required in healthcare settings. Candidates receive grades (A to E) for each sub-test: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. These grades correspond to their ability to communicate effectively in a professional healthcare environment:
- A: Highly competent, fluent, and accurate communication.
- B: Effective communication with occasional errors, suitable for most healthcare roles.
- C: Adequate communication with noticeable errors, which may hinder full effectiveness.
- D: Limited communication with frequent errors and difficulties.
- E: Very limited communication and significant difficulties.
